PNAS Code of Conduct

As members of the Philippine National Academy of Speakers, we are expected to conduct ourselves at the highest level of professionalism and integrity. This is important because the public, which we serve through our speaking profession, bestows trust and confidence upon us. 

Dedicating ourselves to this code of conduct is an important part of our individual and collective success. 

Thus, all members of PNAS shall subscribe with all his or her heart and might to the Code of Ethics as a condition of membership. By doing so, every member makes a strong commitment to uphold the values and ideals of our Academy. 

Violations of this Code are determined accordingly. 

Any disciplinary action instituted by PNAS shall be binding and final upon the member and without recourse to the Academy. 

Article 1— Representation

Every member has an obligation to oneself and to the Academy to represent oneself truthfully, professionally, and in a non-misleading manner. In dealing with fellow members and clients, the member shall at all the times be honest and accurate in presenting himself or herself, his or her qualifications, attainments, and experiences.

Article 2— Professionalism

A member shall act in a most professional and ethical manner so as to neither offend nor bring discredit to himself or herself as a speaker or to fellow members.

Article 3— Intellectual Property

A member shall respect other people’s work and intellectual property by avoiding, in any form or manner, the use of materials, titles, or any creation by others unless approved in writing by the originator.

Article 4— Respect and Collegiality

A member shall maintain a collegial relationship with fellow members based on mutual respect, professional courtesy, dignity, and the highest ethical standards. 

Article 5— Confidentiality

A member shall maintain and respect the confidentiality of the business or personal affairs of clients, agents, and other speakers.

Article 6— Diversity and Inclusivity 

A member shall not bind himself or herself to any agreement or to participate in an activity that would limit or deny access to the marketplace to any other speaker, to a client, or to the public. This includes, but not limited to, restrictions based on economic factors, race, ethnicity, creed, color, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or country of national origin of any party involved.
